Welcome to the Virginia Speleological Survey's Website.
The purpose of this Website is to help facilitate our work of recording, preserving, and protecting the caves and karst resources of Virginia. It is also intended to provide general information about the caves and karst resources of Virginia and to provide a convenient medium for interacting with, and exchanging information between, the VSS Directors, Virginia Region cavers, cave owners, and the general public.
Goals of the VSS Web site:
- To provide general information to all who visit this Web site. Public information will be limited to resources for education and conservation of caves in Virginia.
- To improve coordination between VSS Directors, Regional Coordinators, and Associates, and to provide convenient access to information pertaining to VSS business and data.
- To promote the flow of information to the VSS about the cave resources of Virginia.

To allow the VSS to expand information gathering resources and more effectively disseminate information to approved individuals and organizations.
